What Are Dentures?
Dentures are fully-removable replacement teeth. If all of your natural teeth have been removed - or if Dr. Kaur determines that they must all be removed - you could be a good candidate for full dentures. Full dentures hug the contour of your jaw, creating a seal against your gums for a personalized fit. They are removable and are built to replace your natural teeth.
If you aren’t missing all of your teeth, a partial denture can be used as an alternative to a bridge or multiple dental implants. Removable partial dentures clasp into place, supported by your existing teeth. In most cases, they are a more affordable alternative to dental implants.
What To Expect
To start, we will take a cast of your mouth to send to the lab, where your prosthetic will be precision fabricated for optimal fit. If any tooth preparation is required for your new denture, such as a crown to anchor it, we will aim to complete it while the lab does its work. Once the lab sends us your prosthetic, Dr. Kaur will fit it to your mouth, making careful adjustments to ensure your comfort and the most ergonomic fit.
Taking Care of Your Dentures
Gently brush your dentures each day with mild soap using a special dentures brush or a soft-bristled toothbrush. It is important to keep your dentures moist, so place them in water or soaking solution before you go to bed. Rinse them every morning, and it should serve you well for a long time!
Dentures may require adjustments over time due to normal wear and tear, as well as to the changing shape of your mouth as it ages. Call our office if your dentures begin to rub or feel uncomfortable and we will get you in as soon as possible for a quick adjustment.
